Every caregiver needs time away to recharge. The Center for Caregiver Support offers a variety of respite programs to fit your family’s needs.
Citizens Who Care Volunteer Program
The Citizens Who Care Volunteer Program offers volunteer-led support services for patients and families. Specially-trained volunteers are assigned to your loved one and can provide socialization and in-home respite visits to give you the opportunity to step away with peace of mind.
Galileo Place Adult Day Center
At Galileo Place, our mission is to create a space where each participant feels respected, valued, empowered and cared for. All elements of the program are guided by the philosophy of person-centered care.
Galileo Place is a licensed adult day program housed in a beautiful and thoughtfully appointed 4,500-square-foot facility with an accompanying therapy garden. The physical space is marked with light, abundant color and carefully selected collection of furnishings and art. A family room, art studio, library, game room, kitchen, quiet room and therapy garden are all specially designed to make participants feel comfortable, engaged and at home.
Galileo Place offers a caring and supportive environment. Participants receive physical and cognitive exercise through group workouts and mind sharpening games, and most importantly, social interaction and a sense of purpose and community. Support with managing or practicing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as walking, eating or personal hygiene are available depending on the capabilities of each participant. A nutritional lunch and snacks are provided daily.
A varied schedule of activities is led by specially trained program staff to support those with mild cognitive impairments and limited mobility. The daily schedule of activities includes:
- Creative arts projects
- Bingo, trivia and other table games
- Physical fitness activities
- Music and memory activities
- Gardening
- Lunch and snack times
Program Hours & Fees
Galileo Place is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am–5:30pm and offers a varied schedule to allow flexibility for families. Daily costs are:
Early Birds: 7:30am – 9:00am ($15)
Main Program: 9:00am – 3:00pm ($90)
Late Birds: 3:00pm – 5:30pm ($35)
Financial aid is available on a needs-basis.
In order to prioritize the safety of participants, Galileo Place asks that each family schedules their loved one’s attendance one week in advance.
How to Enroll
To enroll your loved one in Galileo Place, please call 530-758-5566 to schedule a tour of the facility. A needs assessment will be conducted during the tour to determine if this program will meet your loved one’s needs.
